*        Why study in Switzerland?

-     Swiss Hotel Management Schools are specialised, independent colleges, whereas in many other countries hotel management programmes are offered at universities and colleges among many other programmes and majors.

-     A unique feature of all Swiss Hotel Management Schools is the combination of the practical and administrative aspects of hotel management. Courses include compulsory fully-paid internships in the hotel industry. All programs are in English.

-     Furthermore the School will help you to design a tailor made education plan.

-     All classes are mixed with students of various countries. As a result you will find an international environment with many different cultures and languages. You have the unique opportunity to communicate with people from all over the world and understand them better.

-     A very valuable aspects is certainly to realize that strength of character is not expressed through violence, that the love of one's country should not engender the hatred of others, and that the natural attachment to one's language and culture should arouse curiosity about the other languages and cultures.

-     Switzerland offers a very clean environment and magnificent landscapes. All Hotel Management Schools are located in or nearby well known tourist spots.

-     Hotel and tourism industry are keen on employing Swiss-trained ‘hoteliers’ because of their ability to function in a highly competitive environment.

*        How to choose the right Hotel Management School

-     A diploma in hotel management usually takes one and a half to three years to completion. A Bachelor’s Degree takes another year.

-     Career opportunities in the industry are the concern of any aspiring student. The school must be able to provide information on where their graduates are employed, their career entry levels and the time frame for reaching top positions.

-     The alumni are a valuable source of information concerning the school they attended. Schools or their agents in Taiwan can provide references as most alumni are willing to share their experiences.

-     The profile of the teaching staff as well as the ratio between teachers and students give an indication of the academic level of each school.

-     Studies in hotel management in Switzerland are generally a combination of time spent in the school plus one or two internships completed in Switzerland or abroad. A student’s permit to stay in Switzerland is based on the duration of the program.

-     An internship lasts a minimum of five months and should not exceed half of the length of the entire program.

-     The less requirements requested, the less likely you will find a high level program. Especially important is your knowledge of the language of instruction. Should you wish to study in English, you must have a level of at least 500 TOEFL or a IELTS score of 5.5. Should a school accept you without an English examination or at a level below 500 TOEFL (or IELTS score of 5.5), you might have difficulty following the courses.

In today’s world the words ‘tolerance’, ‘diversity’ and ‘ethics’ are as important as ‘professionalism’ and ‘business management’.
