*   Why study in Switzerland?

Ÿ         Swiss Hotel Management Schools are specialised, independent colleges, whereas in many other countries hotel management programmes are offered at universities and colleges among many other programmes and majors.

Ÿ         A unique feature of all Swiss Hotel Management Schools is the combination of the practical and administrative aspects of hotel management. Courses include compulsory fully-paid internships in the hotel industry. All programs are in English.

Ÿ         Furthermore the School will help you to design a tailor made education plan.

Ÿ        All classes are mixed with students of various countries. As a result you will find an international environment with many different cultures and languages. You have the unique opportunity to communicate with people from all over the world and understand them better.

Ÿ         A very valuable aspects is certainly to realize that strength of character is not expressed through violence, that the love of one's country should not engender the hatred of others, and that the natural attachment to one's language and culture should arouse curiosity about the other languages and cultures.

Ÿ        Switzerland offers a very clean environment and magnificent landscapes. All Hotel Management Schools are located in or nearby well known tourist spots.

Ÿ        Hotel and tourism industry are keen on employing Swiss-trained ‘hoteliers’ because of their ability to function in a highly competitive environment.

*   How to choose the right Hotel Management School
We suggest you to take the following points (schools/programs/cost) into consideration:

SCHOOL SET-UP

  • Recognition

- What does the recognition of the school/university mean?

  • Reputation

- How long has the school been in operation? Who is the owner/operator?

- Is the school known by leading hotels in Taiwan and what opinion do hotel manager

have on them?

  • Student mix

- International hotels are used to welcome guests from all over the world. The hotel management is required to adjust to guests from different cultures. One of the biggest asset of a good school is to have a good student mix. The school is a training ground to interchange

with other cultures.

- Does the student body include a widest range of nationalities?

  • Alumni

- Are there alumni references available and can they be contacted?

- Where are they employed (in hotels or other businesses)?

- Are graduates now in management positions?

- Have alumni contacts with each other?

  • Facilities

- What kind of quality infrastructure facilities can the school offer with regard to           accommodation, teaching rooms, kitchen, library, leisure facilities?

- Where is their location?

  • Agent of school

- What is the reputation of the agent?

- What is the role of the agent?

- What kind of services/assistance is provided by the agent?

PROGRAMS

  • Curriculum:

- What types of programs are available?

- Does the program offer management classes or technical courses?

- What are the diversities of the program?

- How many hours are taught?

- What is the size of the class?

  • In-service training

- The program usually includes a period of in-serve training at renowned hotels in Switzerland. The purpose of this training is to put theory into practice and enable the student to perfect his knowledge. A timetable of the program and proper training by professionals is most essential.

- What kind of hotels are selected for in-service training and what types of training programs will be available from professional hotel managers?

  • Faculty

- What are the qualifications of teachers (certified professional teachers, backgrounds,

experiences, nationalities)?

- Is it full-time or part-time teaching staff?

  • Recognition of the degree

- Does the school offer a diploma or a degree?

- What importance do you attach to a degree (may depend on further studies)?

- If the degree is recognized by other school/university, what does it mean?

- Is the degree fully recognized for studies at another institution?

COST

  • What is your time available?

  • How much budget do you have available?

  • What types of cost are included or extra in the programs?
